Terms of Service
Last updated: [DD Month 2026] — draft template, pending counsel review
These terms govern your use of TradesPilot, operated by Compass AI. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. Read the parts about advice, AI drafts, and liability carefully — they matter.
What TradesPilot is
TradesPilot is a software tool that helps Ontario trades contractors track compliance deadlines (lien preservation and perfection, holdback, WSIB Form 7, prompt payment), bill HST correctly, schedule crews, and draft estimates. It computes dates and totals from the information you provide.
It is a tool, not professional advice
TradesPilot does not provide legal, accounting, or tax advice and is not a substitute for a lawyer, accountant, or other qualified professional. Deadlines and figures are calculated from the dates and details you enter; the output is only as accurate as your input, and the law changes. For anything that carries legal or financial consequence — a lien deadline, a holdback release, a WSIB filing, an HST remittance — verify it with a qualified professional before you rely on it.
AI drafts require human review
Features that use AI — estimates, the compliance copilot, follow-ups, and reputation replies — produce drafts, not finished work. Every AI estimate is labelled “Draft — Review Required,” and there is no one-tap send. You are responsible for reviewing, correcting, and approving any AI-generated content before it leaves your hands or goes to a client. AI output may contain errors and must not be treated as authoritative.
Your responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate information, keep your login credentials secure, use the service lawfully, and remain responsible for your own compliance obligations and business decisions. You are responsible for the accuracy of the contract dates, incident details, and invoice figures you enter.
Billing
Paid plans are billed through Stripe on a subscription basis. Pricing details will be presented before you subscribe. You can manage or cancel your subscription from your account; fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law.
Availability
We work to keep TradesPilot running reliably, but we provide the service “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty that deadline calculations are error-free or that the service will be uninterrupted.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TradesPilot and Compass AI are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any lost profits, missed deadlines, penalties, lien rights, or financial loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service or from reliance on its output. The service is a support tool; final responsibility for compliance, filings, and payments rests with you and your professional advisors.
Termination
You may stop using TradesPilot and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms or unlawful use. On termination you may request an export of your data, subject to legal retention requirements.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the service.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above; continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
